Kate Has Puppies 2009

A day in the life of a puppy...take a look!
Grapevine, TX USA

There was a webcam up October and November 2009 on Earthcam. It was a Top 10 site while it was up.

December 27, 2009
- Just an update to let everyone know the puppies are doing great!  Sophie (Penelope) got a great checkup with her new vet and now weighs 4 pounds.  The others will be going to their vets next week.  We really have enjoyed having Zena here with Kate and Sadie and will miss her a lot when she goes back to college with our children.  Will post additional pictures as we get them.  We are looking forward to the New Year!
----
November 29, 2009 - "Kate Has Puppies" is now OFFLINE.  Zena will be living with our children and left today for college.  Hank left today also as his new family lives in the same town as our children.

We do not know how long we will be able to add to the site, however, check back as we will add pictures we receive as long as we can.

Thanks to all of Kate's puppy followers, you have added fun in our puppy experience.  We are sad to see them go but know they are all with good families and we will get to see Zena several times during the year.  Kate is confused by them leaving one by one, however she is thrilled to have Sadie home.
----
November 28, 2009 - Phoebe's family has picked her up , so just Hank and Zena will be here tonight.  They will be heading to their new homes tomorrow.
----
November 27, 2009 - Penelope's family picked her up today, so there are only three to see now.
----
November 26, 2009 - HAPPY THANKSGIVING from Kate, her puppies, and our family.  Tomorrow two of the puppies will join their new families; they are going to great families!  We have decided to keep Zena in our family (at least get to see one of Kate's puppies grow up). We hope the new owners will keep us in the loop with pictures of Kate and Popeye's other puppies as they grow up.
----
November 24, 2009 - Today the puppies got their first set of shots and the vet said they were all in excellent health.  They did great, of course having the vet tech feeding them chicken baby food definitely distracted them while they got their shot!

Here is what they weigh:
Hank - 3.75
Penelope - 3.26
Phoebe - 2.73
Zena - 2.71

We have everything ready to go for the puppie's new families.

November 22, 2009 - Just wanted to let everyone that follows Kate's puppies know that the video cam will end next Sunday, November 29th.  A couple of the puppies will leave on Friday and then the rest by Sunday, November 29th.

Kate won't know what to think but her sister Sadie will be coming home from college (Texas A&M) so she won't be too lonely.  Sadie is a Jack Russell/Beagle mix that we rescued in 2003.

We will post some new pictures tomorrow.
----
November 18, 2009 - When we started showing the puppies on the web cam we couldn't go back to the date they were born to add newborn pictures, however I thought those of you that have been following the puppies might enjoy seeing some newborn pictures.  I will post some newborn pictures over the next couple of days so keep an eye out for updates.

They will get their first shots next week and then be going to their new families.

The puppies are six weeks old today. They all have teeth (sharp) and are eating puppy food and drinking water from a bowl (although they still like to nurse occassionally). They have discovered their toys and like to chew on them when they aren't playing with each other.  Zena and Penelope figured out how to escape and see the big world of our house so we have raised the opening, they are still making a go of it.  They all have cute little personalities and love human touch, they will be great dogs for their families.  It will be a sad day around here when they are gone.

Some of you asked if we are keeping any of them.  Mom wants to ...... but knows since we already have five animals (2 - dogs and 3 - cats) now is not the time to add an additional pet.  This is Kate's first litter and although we have loved having puppies around we are not planning to breed her again.  She will miss her puppies, however, we know she will enjoy being the "baby" again when they are gone and our other dog, Sadie, will come home from college.

To all of you that are following their life, thank you for your wonderful comments, we are glad you visit the site.

November 2, 2009 - Kappy will now be called Hank as his owner's have named him and we want him to get use to his name so when he goes to live with his new family he will know his name!

All the puppies have discovered food and water and are starting to show more interest in it.  It is amazing how much they have changed in four short weeks.
----
October 29, 2009 - The puppies will be four weeks old tomorrow and they weigh 1 lb 12 oz, 2 lb, 2 lb 2 oz, and 2 lb 8 oz.  They are walking and playing with each other and are trying to eat big puppy food as well as still nursing.
-----
October 23, 2009 - The puppies are three weeks old, all have their eyes open, are trying to walk, and now play together.
-----
October 19, 2009 - Finally they all have their eyes open.  Now they are attempting to walk.
-----
October 16, 2009 - Kappy's eyes have opened.  It's hard to believe it's been two weeks since the birth!
-----
October 15, 2009 - Zena ia the first to open her eyes.
-----
October 10, 2009 - After a rough day yesterday Zena is doing good today.  She has grown to a whopping 8 ounces.
-----
October 9, 2009 - The puppies (Zena, Phoebe, Penelope & Kappy) are one week old.  You sure lose a lot of sleep with puppies in the house...well if you are us.  They really have become eating machines.  Here is their day; sleep, eat, then repeat...until the next day.
-----
October 2, 2009 - Early this morning Kate delivered her puppies.  We got home with four healthy puppies at 4 AM from the animal hospital.  They are growing fast and it will not be long until they will be able to crawl around their box.
