Hello Pantera Booster Club,

It's hard to believe that we have three football games under our belts and are preparing for homecoming.  The girls half-time and pep rally performances have been outstanding!  You wouldn't believe all the compliments I hear from people within the school community about how proud they are of our Panteras. (Or, maybe you would, because, I'm sure, you're hearing all the compliments too).  Way to go Panteras and Mrs. Cardwell!
I want to thank all the parents who have learned how to load, paint, pump up, transport, shoot off, repair, and then repair again the oil derricks.  They were a lot of work, but made for a wonderful show.
Thanks to all the "Bob's" who have volunteered their time to participate in the "Bob and Sue" dance.  It's always a fun time for all involved.  I also want to thank all the parents who have been taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the booster club meetings.  This is the most direct way of keeping informed as well as contributing to decisions that need to be made.  It will be especially important to attend the October and November booster club meetings for all the up to date information on our Annual Dinner /Auction.  The revenue from this event is necessary to meet our budget, so we will need everyone's participation to reach our goals.
I have received some information about a school wide flea market put on by the CHHS debate team.  It will be held on October 26 in the Panther Den.  If there is anyone interested in doing this as a 50/50 fundraiser please contact me and I will give you any information that I have.  It sounds like a good deal for those interested in making some money for their personal accounts.
Mark you calendars for all the upcoming homecoming festivities. Don't forget that we have the first payment for the San Antonio trip due on September 25, if you are interested in going as a chaperone send in your payment at this time also.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the October booster club meeting.

Greetings from Cardwell's Corner!

Dear Pantera Family:

WOW - what a great start to football season!  The girls are doing a super job, and the football team looks pretty good as well -  hee, hee.  I cannot believe that it is already time for game number four.  This is how the whole season goes, you turn around and it is over.   I want to thank everyone who has gone the extra mile and helped with props, floors, drinks for the girls, bus chaperons, the web site, news letter, dinner/auction....  You all are awesome!!!!!!

Calendar issues - there seem to be more changes than ever this year so far.  I am really trying to keep it to a minimum.  I got a call yesterday from one of our choreographers for the officers and elite group.  The scheduled Sunday for the officers for September 29 has been canceled and will be rescheduled towards the end of October - still trying to iron out a date.  The October Saturday date for the elite group may change, not sure yet, for right now leave it of your calendar.

New stuff - we have ordered fish net tights for the girls to wear for the Bob and Sue dance.  A handout will be coming home tomorrow with an amount (under $15.00), $ is due September 24.  Speaking of $$, the trip deposit is due the following day on the 25th.  Please make out two separate checks due to the Booster Club.  Also, sent a handout home yesterday for all the BOB'S so they know what to wear.

That about wraps it up form my end.  Thanks again to all of you for being so awesome.  We are having such a fun and successful year thus far!

Dancingly,

Kim Cardwell

I want to thank everyone for there help with the car wash.  I have extra towels that were left at the car wash and will bring them to the next general meeting for you to pick up.  If you need your towels before that time, please feel free to contact me.

I am looking for someone to help with merchandise sales before each pep rally and before the home games.  If you can help with merchandise sales, please contact me.

Time is approaching quickly to start the Poinsettia sales.  Start thinking of all the friends, family and businesses you can sale to.

Thanks,

Joyce Mohler

Major Prizes Awarded!

The Pantera Dinner Auction “Squad Blitz” officially ended on September 9th.  Cathy Williams, Donation Chair, booted up her computer, triple checked her spreadsheets, tallied the totals, and verified the donations that have dominated her dining room for the past month.

When the numbers were completed, the values were posted and the Dinner Auction committee cheered, hooted, and behaved in a most random manner!

We are pleased to announce the Final Squad Blitz totals:

Allie Mack  $2,025
Jenna Thalken  $2,523
Ali Kamczyc  $3,902
Caitlin Compo  $4,732
Katie Dlugauskas   $7,439

Squad Blitz Total $20,621

On Friday, the 13th, Mika Simpson and Mrs. Williams, announced the Winning Squad and gleefully handed out gift bags to each girl.  These green paper packages contained a small box enclosed with a $35 gift card from the Colleyville Terrace Retreat Spa.  These gifts may be used to purchase any spa service and may be scheduled anytime within the next year.

The soon to be pampered squad consists of the following Panteras:

Amanda Addy  Elisa Alvarado  Courtney Burkhart
Katie Dlugauskas  Erin Doody  Hilary Knight
Irene Maddox  Stephanie Porter  Courtney Ussery
Meghan Wilkerson   Brittani Wilkes

Please congratulate all of the Panteras on their hard work and best effort!  We are well on our way to ensuring that the 2002 Pantera Dinner Auction will be a “maximus profitus” evening to remember!

Dinner Auction Update

Each Pantera family should now have their very own Dinner Auction Packet!  These packets include information to help you in the collection of at least 200 dollars (retail value) worth of items, gift certificates, or donations to contribute to the auction.  The due date for the Family Donations is Monday, September 30th.  Remember to fill out, sign, and leave the top sheet (white) from the triplicate Receipt Letter with each donor.

The girls have done a wonderful job getting us started, but we need to double the amount of items that we have received to round out our “Silent Auction” inventory.  Larger or more valuable items are still needed for the “Live Auction” and we would love to have a large electronic item, such as a TV/DVD combo, Laptop Computer, etc., that we might be able to offer as a raffle item.  If anyone has connections or leads in this area, please contact Cathy Williams.

Cathy and her committee are diligently following up on the Corporate Request Letters that were sent out at the beginning of the month.  We are happy to report that though we have a few “no thank you” responses, several have responded positively and are donating to our event!  Remember, when you are soliciting your individual donations, if you are asked to send a letter to the Corporate Offices, you may contact either Cathy or myself, and we will mail/fax a letter to that address.

Susan Womble has been aggressively pulling together all of the details for the Dinner portion of our event.  She is in the process of contacting restaurants and vendors that might be willing to donate the food for our auction.  Any help or information that you can give to her will help us all.  Our goal is to secure the entire meal as a donated item, which will double our profits immediately!

Pat Tolar will be meeting with her committee in the next few weeks to set a theme and design an event layout.  We have many parents who have volunteered to serve on this committee.  Thank you.  Pat will be contacting you soon.

Ticket sales will begin after our October Booster Club meeting.  At that time our food vendor will be confirmed and we will have set the ticket price and the amount of tickets that each girl will be required to sell.  By the end of the month, we will have mailed letters or sent emails to every Pantera alumni that we can locate.  We will invite them to contribute to and attend the 2002 Pantera Dinner Auction.

Thank you all so much for your support and hard work,

Mika Simpson
